Gym Tonic Express is a new offshoot of the popular Gym Tonic senior strength training programme, developed as a commercial model. It delivers the same evidence-based, technology-backed, safe, hassle-free and outcomes-driven training in convenient and accessible locations such as MRT stations and shopping malls, with extended operating hours to better meet the needs of seniors, particularly working older adults who may prefer to train in the evenings or on weekends.

While many existing Gym Tonic sites operate on a non-profit basis (primarily supported by Lien Foundation), Gym Tonic Express runs on a commercial model and adopts commercial pricing to cover rental, manpower and operational costs. Through a structured 12-week progressive training programme, seniors can evidently achieve over 40% improvements in muscle strength, and gains in balance, walking speed and overall functional ability.

Mdm Josephine Chee (aged 72)

Before joining Gym Tonic, Josephine often experienced leg aches and lacked the motivation to go out. However, after about six months of regular participation, she began to feel more energetic and stronger. She can now carry heavier items and climb three flights of stairs to her home without feeling tired. Her leg pain is gone, and she feels more confident stepping out of the house.

Today, Josephine is an active participant in various arts and wellness programmes offered by the centre. She even encourages her neighbours to join in. Since regaining her strength, she rarely feels tired and often feels strong, confident, and happy with herself.

Mr Mustaffa (aged 61) & Mdm Foziah (aged 61)

Mr Mustaffa thought a stroke would mean giving up his active life. When he first joined Gym Tonic at Fei Yue Active Ageing Centre, he relied on a walking stick. Through the structured strength-building programme, he gradually rebuilt his mobility, confidence, and independence. Encouraged by his progress, his wife Mdm Foziah soon joined him.

Together, they found not just physical improvement, but a supportive and welcoming community. Today, Mr Mustaffa is stronger, more flexible, and living life with renewed joy — proving that with the right support, it's never too late to regain strength and purpose.

Mr Lee Soo Jin (aged 70) & Mdm Patricia Chan (aged 69)

At nearly 70, Lee Soo Jin and his partner Patricia Chan set out to conquer the 54 km Milford Track in New Zealand. While they had trained aerobically, they realised strength was the missing piece. After 12 weeks with Gym Tonic, they experienced remarkable improvements in muscle endurance, balance, and stamina.

Soo Jin felt stronger and more stable, while Patricia noticed faster, more effortless walking. Completing the trek successfully, they credited Gym Tonic for transforming their fitness — helping them move with confidence, reduce fall risk, and rediscover the joy of staying active.
